UTILITY DRIVERS
Job Summary:
- Will operate tractor/trailer in the transportation of freight, traveling terminal to terminal or delivering to customers in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws with regard to run times and DOT regulations
- Position will entail dock work (paid hourly) and will assist where needed in Line Haul runs (typically out five days and home two - paid mileage), Local Pick Up and Delivery routes (home daily, paid hourly) and Hub/Regional runs (paid mileage)
- Must be aware of pre-trip inspections to ensure safe working conditions of the tractor and trailer prior to each trip
- Checks gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure seal on trailers and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring
- Reports all maintenance problems to Fleet Services
- Must know and adhere to all DOT requirements of those holding a Commercial drivers license
- Regular attendance is required
· All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualification:
- 21 years of age required per DOT regulations (2 years driving experience preferred)
- Class A Commercial Driver's License
- HazMat and Doubles endorsements required (LCV requirements may apply)
- May be required to drive tractor trailer for a period of time that will conform to FMCSA requirements
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to push or pull a pallet jack with a minimum load of 70 lbs
- Loading and unloading trailers
- Stable employment history
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Physical activities include: standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
- Must be able to provide an acceptable MVR
- Must be familiar with state motor vehicle laws and Department of Transportation rules and regulations
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 70 lbs
- High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Responds well to questions. Ability to read and interpret written information and documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
