ASSISTANT LOGISTICS CENTER MANAGER Level 2 Logistics Job Summary · Reports to the Logistics Center Manager · Directly supervises dockworkers and support personnel in the loading and unloading of freight · Schedules and assigns tasks for dock planning and set up · Ensures timely pickup, delivery and linehaul of freight and verifies freight for all billing · Observes loading of trucks for proper handling and distribution of freight for transport · Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations · Trains new employees and contract labor · Coordinates drivers and assigns trucks and delivery routes for pickup and delivery of freight · Disciplines employees when necessary; coordinates disciplinary procedures with the manager · Records all pertinent information on inbound loads, loads worked at the logistics center and loads dispatched in the TMS · Coordinates the movement of freight within the logistics center network as well as within the Estes Express network to ensure timely freight movement to POD’s, and satellite terminals for delivery. · Uses the TMS to manage and document all freight movement at every level · Maintain equipment and facility for effective, clean and safe operations · Regular attendance is required · This is not an all-inclusive list of job requirements and/or duties and may not contain all mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the job at all times due to circumstances. Qualifications: · Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and problem solving skills · Proven record of managing resources and creating efficiencies supported by strong analytical skills · Must have 3 years experience in the transportation, distribution, and logistics field · Computer literate in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint · Must be able to interact well with others · Ability to work independently or in a team setting, in a fast paced environment · Must be mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high stress environment · Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 25 lbs. · High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelors Degree preferred · Must be able to and comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct. · Responds well to questions.
