JOCKEYS

 

Job Summary:

  • Handles tractor/trailers and other large equipment safely
  • Pre-shift inspections of the yard equipment
  • Accurately sets up, breaks down and hooks trailers safely
  • Ensures all pup trailers have tilt bar to be lowered prior to loading of freight
  • Monitors yard for unsafe drivers and non employees
  • Works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Communicates effectively with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services personnel
  • Regular attendance is required

Qualifications:

·         Must have a valid driver’s license

·         Must have an acceptable DMV record

·         Requires twisting, turning and climbing

·         Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 70 lbs

·         Must interact well with others

·         Must be able to work independently or in a team setting in a fast paced environment

·         Must be mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high stress environment

·         High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Must be able to and comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and the Code of Conduct

·         Responds well to questions. Ability to read and interpret written information and documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

·         Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to a criminal history background check

·         Must be eligible to work in the United States
