One of the many different types of truck driving jobs is the “Company Driver” a company driver is an employee of a carrier (fleet) who is assigned to drive company-owned trucks. This type of driver typically drives medium or heavy duty straight trucks or tractor trailers with capacity of over 26,000 GVW needing a CDL. This type of driver has two responsibilities the first is being a safe and capable truck driver and second is being a spokesperson for the company. This type of driver can also be responsible to deliver or pick up merchandise and in some cases limited loading and unloading. This type of driver job may require physical ability with requirements to handle and lift heavy items without assistance. The company driver can be required to run local, regional or long distance possibly being asked to spend the night on the road, out of town.
