One of the many different types of truck driving jobs is the “Tanker Driver” a tanker driver typically drives tanker trucks that haul liquids or gas. This type of driver typically drives medium or heavy duty straight trucks or tractor trailers with capacity of over 26,000 GVW or needing a CDL with endorsements. This type of driver has the responsibility to operate as a safe and capable truck driver and normally needs special education or training in product handling and transfer. This type of driver also needs special endorsements on their CDL to operate this type of vehicle. This type of driver can also be responsible for the delivery and pick up of the product and in some cases the loading and unloading. This type of driver job may require the physical ability of handling and lifting heavy items without assistance. This type of driving may require special material handling and HazMat training and can be required to drive local, regional or long distance possibly being asked to spend the night on the road, out of town.
