Job Summary:

Seeking a Mechanic with a strong mechanical aptitude who is able to repair, troubleshoot and/or rebuild engines of equipment used in the construction industry. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience pertaining to the repair and servicing of diesel trucks, trailers, bulldozers, graders, loaders, wood grinders, and conveyors and like equipment used in heavy construction. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read job orders, observe and listen to truck/equipment in operation to determine malfunction, and plan work procedures.
  • Confer with operators and site management, observe and test, and evaluate operation of equipment to properly diagnose cause of malfunction.
  • Diagnose, analyze, repair, adjust and align any/all components of machinery, heavy equipment, hydraulic systems and engines.
  • Complete test runs on repaired machinery, heavy equipment, and engines to verify adequacy of repairs.
  • Identify and requisition parts and materials as needed.
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating all received services and repairs.
  • Understand and perform various daily and weekly assignments from verbal or written communication.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience servicing diesel trucks, bulldozers, graders, loaders, forklifts, and conveyors, etc., used in construction. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid state issued driver’s license and a clean MVR. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • An active “Class A CDL”.
  • Flexible and able to work at different job sites as needed.
  • A certificate from college or technical school pertaining to mechanical abilities.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Able to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.  

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Demands may vary from site to site and in some cases be greater or lesser than indicated here.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
